A decadent red wine composed of aromas of dark cocoa and dark berries with flavors of vanilla and dark fruit, accented by a slight smoky note. Sweetness and intensity at entry and a lengthy, lush finish. In 1998, Lynn and her husband Ron Penner-Ash founded Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in the Northern Willamette Valley's Yamhill-Carlton AVA. They pair built their LIVE certified sustainable gravity-flow winery surrounded by an 11-acre Estate Vineyard. The building seems to spring from the land itself - a reflection of the values, spirit and winemaking philosophy of Penner-Ash. The wines reflect the Willamette Valley's distinct textures, flavors and terroir, with beautiful elegance and balance.
Decades-long relationships with grower neighbors and friends provide access to fruit from the region's most distinguished vineyards, including Shea Vineyard, Bramble Hill Vineyard, and Zena Crown Vineyard. Grounded in these partnerships, filled with respect and admiration for this land, Penner-Ash Pinot Noirs are lush and inviting - a textural experience from start to finish. Lynn Penner-Ash began her career in the Willamette Valley with Rex Hill Vineyards in 1988, becoming the first woman winemaker hired on Oregon. As a pioneer in the Willamette Valley, Lynn built the foundation of her legacy as a 'master blender' of the Willamette Valley AVA, and an early champion of the region's promise. Today, she works side by side with Winemaker Kate Ayres, who has been entrusted to carry forward the longstanding relationships with grower neighbors and friends that Lynn has fostered over the past twenty years.
