Named to celebrate the beginning of a new century, Gran Centenario tequila is made using a process named the "Seleccion Suave" by the Gallardo family over 150 years ago. Owner Lazaro Gallardo began selling his own tequila, named Gran Centenario, in 1895. His son then decided to begin bottling the tequila in 1920. Inspired by the Art Deco style of the modern architecture at that time, he created a bottle similar to the one used today, which is decorated with 'The Angel of Independence', inspired by the Mexican Centenario gold bullion coin. Gran Centenario Leyenda Extra Anejo Tequila is made through marrying the finest distilled spirits with 15-year-old tequila reserves - to produce a tequila that is bursting with richness and complexity. The blend, which is handcrafted in small batches to ensure quality, is then aged an average of four years in French Limousin oak barrels for additional depth of flavor.
