Le Secret is a 2024 white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Rhône Valley, made from Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne and Picardin. It is pale gold, with orchard and pit fruit aromas alongside jasmine, smoky minerals and sweet butter. The style is sappy and energetic, with intense nectarine and poached pear flavors and a bitter hint of lemon pith. A floral lift carries a long, focused finish of dusty minerals and pear skin.
Domaine du Banneret is a 3.5 hectare family property in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with origins going back to 1405. The coat of arms on the label belongs to the Bertet family. Jean-Claude Vidal, a Bertet descendant and former architect, took over in 1989 and learned winemaking from Jacques Reynaud and Henri Bonneau. His daughter Audrey now oversees the domaine. Farming is organic, on galet-covered soil in 8 parcels around the castle ruins. The grapes are harvested and co-fermented together, and the wine is unfined and unfiltered.
