Domaine de Reuilly Les Pierres Plates is a Sauvignon Blanc from Reuilly in the Loire Valley, France. The grapes are destemmed and pressed in a low pressure bladder press, and the must flows by gravity and is cooled to help it settle. Temperature controlled fermentation lasts about three weeks. The wine then ages on fine lees for five months in stainless steel and does not go through malolactic fermentation.
Denis Jamain farms the Domaine's vineyards in the heart of the Reuilly appellation. His grandfather has kept vines on the property since the end of World War II, and the parcel was replanted in the 1980s with vines better suited to the terroir. The estate has grown to 15 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, on clay and Kimmeridgian limestone. Jamain practices sustainable agriculture and has begun converting to organic certification. He makes his barrels from oaks selected in his grandfather's forest.
