Charles Joguet Clos de la Dioterie is a 2022 red wine from Chinon in France's Loire Valley, made from Cabernet Franc. The producer counts it among their greatest wines, with excellent aging potential.
Charles Joguet left a budding career as a painter and sculptor to run the family domaine in 1957. Rather than sell grapes to negociants, as the family had done for years, he vinified each single vineyard separately, convinced that separate terroirs need separate vinifications. The vineyards lie between the Loire and Vienne Rivers, including lieux-dits in Sazilly on the left bank of the Vienne. Today Kevin Fontaine oversees vineyards and cellars, farming thirty-six hectares of Cabernet Franc and bottling nine cuvées. Charles, now retired, still lives on the property and visits often.
